Hello Windows 11

Computer Guy - A Philadelphia Tradition For 30 Years

In 2015, Microsoft said that Windows 10 would be the operating system's last version number. I guess Microsoft changed their minds, because here is Windows 11! Windows 11 has a somewhat updated appearance, but Windows 11 remains almost functionally identical to Windows 10, with some new features and collaboration conveniences added. After more than 5 years of upgrades, a major overhaul to the world’s most popular desktop OS is good news: Windows fans finally have something new to explore.

Despite the new look of Windows 11, it doesn't feel much different than Windows 10. Windows 11 looks nicer with modern type rounded corners for file requesters, the Taskbar icons are now in the middle, the icons are a little flatter, and the setting panel looks a little more modern too. The new interface is nice and easy to navigate.

What Resources Are Necessary For Windows 11?

Windows 11 launched on Oct. 5, 2021, as previously announced on the Windows Experience Blog. At first, the upgrade will be coming to recent and new PCs, and then it will be offered free to Windows 10 systems. The process will be complete by the middle of 2022. Microsoft has not indicated the pricing yet for full versions of the software, we may be looking at —$139.99 for Home and $199.99 for Pro editions—but there's still no info from Microsoft on such an option, even after they have Windows 11 launched.

The system requirements for Windows 11, do not seem to be a big deal—a recent generation CPU, they say it will run on 4GB RAM, but we think at least 16, and only 64GB capacity on the hard drive or solid-state drive. A 64-bit processor will now be required; the 32-bit is no longer offered. They also want a TPM security chip and of course, secure boot capability. Please notice a link to the Microsoft Windows 11 assessment tool: PC Health Check app.

The technicians at Computer Guy feel good about the performance, and we feel that after a few updates, this OS will have some real good advantages, such as backup to a bootable VM. Call the friendly technicians at Computer Guy for more information about the exciting new Windows 11!
